Hey everyone! Just wanted to share a quick update on what's happening around town as we head into the new year. Keep an eye out for each other and let's keep our community strong!
🏛️ Town Government & Civic Updates
The Town Council has been busy with some important long-term projects.
New Municipal Building Project: There's a dedicated resource page on the Township website with all the information on the New Municipal Building Project. It looks like things are moving forward, so make sure to check out the details there!
COJ Park Improvements: Great news for families! The Town Council has authorized the installation of a Completely Inclusive Playground at C.O. Johnson Park. I saw photos of the new inclusive playground opening earlier this year, so it sounds like the park is getting some wonderful upgrades.
Meeting Alert: Don't forget the Town Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16th. The Regular Session starts at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building. If you want to know what's going on, this is where you can hear it straight from the source!
🎁 Special Events & Community News
Holiday House Decorating Contest: Time to get those lights twinkling! The 2025 Holiday House Decorating Contest is officially on. Check the town website for the official rules and deadlines. Let's make Byram the brightest town in Sussex County!
Coat Drive: There's a Coat Drive going on right now. A great opportunity to clear out those closets and help a neighbor stay warm this winter. Find the drop-off information and details on the Township website.
Recreation Volunteers Needed! The Recreation Committee is looking for volunteers. If you have time and want to help plan our fun town events, reach out to them!
📚 School & Education Notes
School Closures: Just a friendly reminder, with winter upon us, make sure you're signed up for the Honeywell Alert messaging system for any weather-related school closings. You can also check the Byram Township School District's website or tune into WSUS 102.3 and WABC.
Winter Recess Days: Remember that if we have to use emergency closing days before February 1st, they will be reinstated during the winter recess, starting from that week's Wednesday. Better pray for clear skies!
🏈 Sports & Athletics
Recreation Winter Brochure: The Recreation Winter Brochure is out with all the upcoming activities and programs. It's time to sign up the kids (or yourselves!) for winter leagues and activities!
Harlem Wizards Game: Mark your calendars! The Byram School District is hosting the Harlem Wizards on March 2nd at 2:00 PM at Lenape Valley Regional High School. This is always a super fun community event—register for tickets now!
