Happy Presidents' Day! I hope many of you are enjoying a long weekend. Here's your comprehensive weekly update on all things Byram.

🌤️ WEATHER & ROAD CONDITIONS After a brisk start to the week, temperatures are expected to moderate slightly. Roads are clear, and no significant weather events are anticipated. Please be aware of potential delays on Route 206 South near the intersection with Byram Plaza on Wednesday morning, February 18th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, due to minor utility work. Traffic control will be on site.

🏛️ LOCAL GOVERNMENT & COUNCIL NEWS The Byram Township Council's next regular public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18th, at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building. The agenda includes continued discussions on the municipal budget, a review of proposed amendments to local zoning ordinances, and a public hearing regarding a new small business grant program. All residents are welcome to attend.

🏫 BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATE The Byram Township Board of Education held its regular public meeting last Monday, February 9th. Key discussions included the approval of several new extracurricular programs for the elementary and middle schools, and a presentation on the district's anti-bullying initiatives. Minutes from the meeting will be posted on the district website shortly.

🗑️ TRASH & RECYCLING REMINDERS

  • Trash Collection: Your regular Monday trash collection is proceeding as scheduled today. Please have your bins at the curb by 6:00 AM.

  • Recycling: This week is commingled recycling (plastic, glass, and cans) for Zone B. Zone A will have fiber (paper and cardboard) recycling. Remember to rinse containers and flatten cardboard! You can always find the full schedule on the township's website.

🏅 BYRAM SPORTS SPOTLIGHT

  • Lenape Valley Regional High School: Both the Boys' and Girls' Basketball teams have concluded their regular seasons and are now preparing for tournament play! Keep an eye on the LVRHS athletics page for schedules and support our Patriots as they compete for championships.

  • Middle School Sports: Byram Lakes Middle School basketball teams wrapped up their season last week with strong finishes. Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches on a successful season!

  • Youth Leagues: Spring sports registrations for baseball, softball, and soccer are closing soon! Ensure your child is signed up to participate in the upcoming season.

🌳 PARKS & RECREATION: C.O. JOHNSON PARK C.O. Johnson Park offers a beautiful escape even in late winter. The walking trails are clear and provide scenic views of the lake. While the weather is still cool, it's a great time for a brisk walk or a quiet moment by the water. Remember to observe all park rules, including keeping pets leashed and cleaning up after them. The Parks & Recreation department is also beginning to plan for various spring and summer events at the park – more details to come!
