❄️ WEATHER & SCHOOLS ALERT Due to the winter storm and hazardous travel conditions, all schools in the Byram School District are CLOSED today, Monday, February 23rd. This includes the cancellation of all after-school programs and evening events. Stay safe and enjoy the snow day!

🏛️ LOCAL GOVERNMENT & COUNCIL NEWS

  • Council Vacancy: The Township is currently seeking letters of interest to fill the seat left by the late Councilman Harvey Roseff, who passed away earlier this month. The appointed individual will serve for the remainder of 2026.

  • Upcoming Meetings: The next Town Council meeting is scheduled for March 3rd (6:30 PM Executive / 7:30 PM Regular). The Environmental Commission will meet this Thursday, February 26th at 7:00 PM.

🏫 BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATE The Board held a regular meeting last Wednesday, February 18th. A major highlight this month: Byram Lakes Elementary students recently raised approximately $31,000 for the American Heart Association! Congratulations to our hardworking students and staff for such an incredible achievement.

🗑️ TRASH & RECYCLING REMINDERS

  • Trash Collection: Regular pickup is scheduled for Tuesday (tomorrow). Please have bins curbside by 6:00 AM.

  • Recycling: This week (the week of Feb 23) is Commingled Recycling (plastics, glass, cans) for Zone A and Fiber Recycling (paper, cardboard) for Zone B.

🚧 ROAD WORK & CLOSURES

  • Route 206 Northbound: The utility work and lane closures near Brookwood Road (milepost 99.35) have largely concluded, but minor shoulder work may cause intermittent delays. Always check 511nj.org before heading out in this weather.

🏅 BYRAM SPORTS SPOTLIGHT

  • Lenape Valley Patriots: The Boys Varsity Basketball team is hitting the road this Wednesday, Feb 25, for an NJSIAA tournament game against Midland Park at 7:00 PM.

  • Wrestling: The Patriots are headed to the District Tournament this Saturday, Feb 28, hosted at Roxbury High School. Good luck to all our wrestlers!

  • Youth Sports: Registration for Spring sports is reaching its final call. Check the Township Recreation page to sign up for baseball, softball, and soccer.

🌳 PARKS & RECREATION: C.O. JOHNSON PARK While the fields are currently covered in snow, C.O. Johnson Park improvements remain a priority for the township this year. The 2026 Recreation Spring Brochure is now available online, featuring upcoming programs and events. Note: The winter hike originally planned for Feb 22 was a great success; stay tuned for the next guided trail walk!

  • Mingo Lodge: Check out the live music scene this Friday, Feb 27, featuring local favorite After Forever nearby at the Lafayette House.
