Welcome to another edition of your weekly community update. I hope you're all having a great start to your week. Let's catch up on what's happening around Byram Township!

❄️ WEATHER & ROAD CONDITIONS The chill in the air continues this week, with some patchy frost expected overnight. Our roads are generally clear, but please remain vigilant for any slick spots, especially on less-traveled routes. No significant road closures or new construction work are reported at this time.

🏛️ LOCAL GOVERNMENT & COUNCIL NEWS The Byram Township Council held its regular meeting last Tuesday, February 4th. Key discussions included preliminary budget reviews for the upcoming fiscal year and updates on several grant applications for infrastructure improvements. Details and meeting minutes will be posted on the official township website in the coming days.

🏫 BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATE Just a reminder: The Byram Township Board of Education will hold its next public meeting TONIGHT, Monday, February 9th, at 7:00 PM in the Byram Lakes Elementary School Media Center. This is an important meeting where they will likely discuss upcoming curriculum initiatives and potentially present updates on district-wide programs. Your participation is encouraged!

🗑️ TRASH & RECYCLING REMINDERS

  • Trash Collection: Your regular Monday trash collection is taking place today. Please ensure all bins are placed at the curb by 6:00 AM.

  • Recycling: This week is fiber recycling (paper and cardboard) for Zone B. Zone A will have commingled recycling (plastic, glass, and cans). A detailed schedule and zone map are available on the Byram Township website.

🏅 BYRAM SPORTS SPOTLIGHT

  • Lenape Valley Regional High School: Both the Boys' and Girls' Basketball teams are pushing towards the end of their regular season with strong performances. The Boys have a home game on Tuesday and an away game on Friday. The Girls' team travels on Wednesday and plays at home on Saturday. Good luck, Patriots!

  • Middle School Sports: Byram Lakes Middle School basketball teams are wrapping up their regular season this week, with some exciting final games. Playoff schedules will be announced soon!

  • Youth Leagues: Final registration deadlines for spring youth baseball, softball, and soccer are fast approaching. Check with your local recreation department or league websites to ensure your child doesn't miss out!

🌳 PARKS & RECREATION: C.O. JOHNSON PARK C.O. Johnson Park remains open for winter enjoyment. The trails are mostly clear, but do watch for isolated icy spots. The playground area is accessible, and the scenic views of the lake are beautiful this time of year. Remember that dogs must be on a leash, and please pick up after your pets to keep our park clean for everyone.

  • Valentine's Day Specials: With Valentine's Day just around the corner, many local businesses are ready to help you celebrate! Andre's Lakeside Dining is offering special Valentine's dinner menus.
