Spring is officially arriving this week! The air is feeling crisp and the days are getting longer. Here’s your weekly update on all things Byram to help you kick off the season.
🌤️ WEATHER & ROADS The forecast for this week looks fantastic—we’re expecting mostly sunny skies with temperatures climbing into the low 60s! Most residual snow has melted, and the roads are clear. Minor utility work is wrapping up on Route 206 near the intersection with Brookwood Road, so be aware of potential brief, intermittent delays.
🏛️ LOCAL GOVERNMENT & COUNCIL NEWS
Upcoming Meeting: The Byram Township Council's next regular public meeting is scheduled for TOMORROW, Tuesday, March 17th, at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building. Key items on the agenda include continued discussions on the 2026-2027 municipal budget, a presentation regarding the potential new municipal complex, and a review of the upcoming town-wide cleanup day. Public attendance and input are highly encouraged.
🏫 BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATE
Tonight's Meeting Reminder: The next regular public meeting of the Byram Township Board of Education will take place TONIGHT, Monday, March 16th, at 7:00 PM in the Byram Lakes Elementary School Media Center. Following last week's preliminary budget presentation, this meeting will move toward a vote on the 2026-2027 school district budget. Your presence is essential!
🗑️ TRASH & RECYCLING REMINDERS
Trash Collection: Your regular Monday trash collection is proceeding as scheduled today. Please ensure all bins are at the curb by 6:00 AM.
Recycling: This week (the week of March 16) is Fiber Recycling (paper and cardboard) for Zone B. Zone A will have commingled recycling (plastic, glass, and cans). Remember that cardboard must be flattened and secured to prevent litter. Check the Township website for full details and zone maps.
🏅 BYRAM SPORTS SPOTLIGHT
Lenape Valley Patriots: High school spring sports are officially underway! Tryouts for baseball, softball, lacrosse, and track and field begin this week. Let's get ready for another great season!
Middle School Sports: Byram Lakes Middle School is excited to begin its spring volleyball and track and field programs. Registration has concluded; practice schedules will be announced soon. Students, check your school emails for updates.
Youth Leagues: Final registration deadlines for local Little League, softball, and youth soccer have passed. If you registered your child, look for communication from coaches regarding teams and schedules shortly.
🌳 PARKS & RECREATION: C.O. JOHNSON PARK C.O. Johnson Park is shaking off the winter chill and coming alive with the arrival of spring! The tennis and pickleball courts are officially OPEN and available on a first-come, first-served basis (or via reservation through the Recreation Department website). Planning is in the final stages for the annual Spring Egg Hunt, scheduled for next weekend—check the Recreation website for exact times. Remember that dogs must be on a leash, and please pick up after your pets!
