❄️ WEATHER & ROADS Expect a mix of sun and clouds this week with temperatures gradually warming up. All major roads are clear, but please remain cautious of potential slick spots in shaded areas during the early mornings. There are no significant new road closures to report, but ongoing minor maintenance may cause brief delays on secondary roads.
🏛️ LOCAL GOVERNMENT & COUNCIL NEWS
Next Council Meeting: The Byram Township Council's next regular public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd, at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building. Key items on the agenda include initial discussions on the 2026 municipal budget and updates on the C.O. Johnson Park improvement projects. Residents are encouraged to attend or view the meeting via the livestream link on the township website.
Open Position: The township is currently accepting applications for a part-time position in the public works department. Details and application forms can be found on the 'Employment' section of the township website.
🏫 BOARD OF EDUCATION UPDATE The next regular public meeting of the Byram Township Board of Education will take place on Monday, March 9th, at 7:00 PM in the Byram Lakes Elementary School Media Center. This meeting will include a presentation on the preliminary 2026-2027 school budget. Public input is welcome.
🗑️ TRASH & RECYCLING REMINDERS
Trash Collection: Regular Monday trash collection is proceeding as scheduled today. Please ensure all bins are at the curb by 6:00 AM.
Recycling: This week is fiber recycling (paper and cardboard) for Zone B. Zone A will have commingled recycling (plastic, glass, and cans). As a reminder, please flatten cardboard boxes and rinse all containers.
🏅 BYRAM SPORTS SPOTLIGHT
Lenape Valley Regional High School: Congratulations to the Patriots' wrestling team on a strong showing at the recent district tournament! Looking ahead, the spring sports season is just a few weeks away—good luck to all the athletes preparing for tryouts.
Middle School Sports: Byram Lakes Middle School is gearing up for the spring sports season. Registration for track and field and volleyball is now open. Students interested should check with the athletics office.
Youth Leagues: Final registration deadlines for spring youth baseball, softball, and soccer are this week! If you haven't signed your child up yet, visit the respective league websites immediately to secure a spot.
🌳 PARKS & RECREATION: C.O. JOHNSON PARK C.O. Johnson Park is seeing more activity as the weather improves. The walking trails are mostly dry and offer a great opportunity for fresh air. The field improvements mentioned by the Council are slated to begin later this spring. Please remember to observe all park rules, including keeping dogs on leashes and cleaning up after them. We want to keep our park beautiful for everyone!
